Casey Ratliff has been flying for over 23 years, and instructing for 16, between the Air Force and General Aviation. He started flying in 1998 when he joined the Air Force, where he flew the F-16 and was an instructor in the T-38. Casey retired from the Air Force in 2018 and immediately started Texas Skies Flight School out at Boerne Stage Airfield. Casey is originally from Arizona, but moved around quite a bit while in the Air Force before settling in San Antonio. Before joining the Air Force and becoming a pilot.

Casey was a middle school math teacher, using his B.S. in Math Education from Northern Arizona University.

Director of Operations- Cirrus TCI

Yancey Walker, although not a native Texan, swears he got here as fast as he could.  A proud graduate of San Antonio's own John Marshall High School and the United States Air Force Academy, Yancey has been surrounded by aviation his entire life.  As a pilot in the Air Force he served three tours flying the C-130 in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, trained the next generation of aviators as a T-6 instructor pilot and amassed over 1100 freefall skydives as a member of the Wings of Blue.  He proudly retired in 2024 and because of his love for this town decided to make San Antonio his forever home.

Holly has been a part of the Texas Skies Flight School family since April of 2021, as a Commercial pilot. She then completed her Cirrus Transition with Casey Ratliff who then offered her a position here as the flight school manager. Since then she has become more of a "momager" to each instructor and student here reaching their aviation goals.

Her love of aviation convinced her to purchase her own airplane, a Cessna 172 -N7083Q (AKA "Judy") with a previous instructor, which has now become a favorite of the school.

Edward is a 27 year old CFI/II/MEI who has been flying for 7 years. He earned his private certificate right here at Texas Skies in a Cirrus SR20 back in 2019. Since then, Edward graduated Embry Riddle Aeronautical Univeristy with a bachelor's of Aeronautical Science, while completing his instrument, commercial and multi-engine certificates in a Cessna 172 and Diamond DA42. He also earned his commercial seaplane rating in a DHC-2 Beaver. Edward returned to Texas Skies in April of 2024 as an instructor where he finds joy in helping his students become the best pilots they can be, and hopes he can help you achieve all of your aviation dreams!

Jeff has been a Cirrus instructor with Texas Skies Flight School since 2020. He is a CFI, CFII who also flies a TBM for a local law firm and contract flights under his Skiba Skies company. Prior to becoming a pilot, Jeff was an IT consultant for 30 years and ran the consulting division of his last company. 

Jeff enjoys playing golf, the piano and guitar.  He used to dabble in songwriting and met several Nashville songwriters as a result.

Abby is a 25 year old CFI/II Cirrus TCI from Caldwell , Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Animal Science before pursuing aviation at the United Aviate Academy in Goodyear, Arizona. She as been with us at Texas Skies since May of 2024.

Alex is a 29 year old CFI/II/ Cirrus TCI, born and raised in the state of Maine and a very recent resident of Texas. He got his bachelor’s in aviation management at Bowling Green State University and has an extensive working history in both the aviation and customer service fields. After college, Alex immediately got a job with Delta Air Lines where he spent the next four years, eventually becoming a complaint resolution official and supervisor, working both the ticket counter and departure gates at PWM and later BOS airports. In 2022, Alex moved on from Delta in Boston to San Marcos, Texas to complete his flight training with the American Airlines Cadet Academy working his way to becoming a flight instructor. He strives to pass on his training gained from American and share his passion for aviation with all his students. When he isn’t flying, Alex can’t help but return to his rural Maine roots, participating in all forms of outdoor recreation around Texas and back home in Maine. In particular, he enjoys fishing, hiking, shooting at the range, and lobster. In winter, you can find him at the ice rink when not at the airport.

Ethan Birchard is a 27-year-old Certified Flight Instructor and Instrument Instructor with a lifelong passion for aviation. Born and raised in San Antonio, Ethan graduated from Texas Tech University and discovered his love for flying during his very first discovery flight. With deep roots in the aviation community, several of his family members are pilots. He brings both experience and enthusiasm to every flight. He’s currently flying Cessna’s. When he’s not in the air, Ethan enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, their German Shorthaired Pointer, and close friends and family. He’s excited to fly with you and help you reach your aviation goals.

Jodie is a CFI/CFII from Houston, Texas. She graduated from The University of Texas before deciding to switch her career path to aviation. She did her flight training out of Arizona and Ohio, and is now back in Texas to instruct. She is a member of various aviation organization, such as, OBAP, NGPA, PAPA, WAI, and 99’s. Outside of aviation, Jodie enjoys home baking, listening to audiobooks/podcasts, and being a big foodie. She is excited to start flying with you and be a part of your aviation journey.

David is a CFI, CFII, and MEI. He went to ATP for his flight training where he flew a Piper Archer. He has been at Texas Skies Flight School since April of 2024 where he fly's the Cessna 172 and 182.

Instructor- Cessna 172 / 206 / 310

Bryce Rodgers, is a CFI,CFII, and MEI. He has been flying for 2+ years and did his training in North Carolina and in Florida at Blue line aviation. He has flown various aircraft such as the Diamond 20, Diamond 40, Diamond 42, along with the Cessna 172 here at Texas Skies. Bryce was Born and raised in Fort Worth Texas. His father works for American Airlines so he grew a passion for aviation being able to go into the hangers at KAFW when he was a child. when Bryce is not flying he like to go to the gym with his fiancée and play with his French Bulldog named Stitch.

As a Boerne native, Keagon started his aviation career right here with us at TSFS as a student pilot!  After earning his PPL with us he went on to earn his Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine, CFI & CFII certificates flying out of Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Baton Rouge and Lubbock, TX.  He has a 10 year old son that is his pride & joy, and resides in the San Antonio area.

Ric has been a pilot for more than 2 years and has enjoyed sharing his passion for aviation, as an instructor, at Texas Skies Flight School. Ric went to High School and College in Texas (with Post Graduate studies in Boston). Ric has traveled extensively for work and leisure - domestically and abroad. Before becoming an instructor, he spent two decades in medtech and tech. Ric is also a former Marine Corps Officer. Ric holds a Commercial Rating for Single & Multi engine, Complex, High Altitude, High Performance, CFI and CFII.

Dustin is a South Texas native with an aviation background stemming from his time in the Navy in 2012 as a maintainer and plane captain. After college he went to return to aviation working on Blackhawk helicopters in Corpus Christi TX as a contractor for the Army. Shortly after, he made the decision to stop working on airplanes and fly them. He moved to San Antonio in 2022 where he began his training and graduated with his commercial single engine and multi engine certs as well as his CFI and CFII.

Mike is living proof that life’s best detours lead back to the runway. Although he dreamt of flying as a kid, life took him on a successful 20-year journey through the corporate world first. A UT and UTSA grad, he eventually decided to trade the office for the cockpit to fulfill that lifelong dream—and more importantly, to show his two young boys exactly what it looks like to chase and achieve a goal, no matter how long it takes.

Having earned all his ratings right here at Texas Skies, Mike knows exactly what it feels like to be in the student’s seat. He understands that learning to fly is challenging and strives to maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere in the cockpit. He believes flight training should be the highlight of your week, not a source of stress. If you are looking for an instructor who is patient, relatable, and genuinely excited to see you succeed, Mike is ready to help you reach your goals.

Henry discovered his passion for flying at 13 when his Boy Scout troop completed the aviation merit badge at a local airport. From the moment the wheels lifted off on his first flight, he knew he wanted to become a pilot.
After turning this passion into a career path in 2018, Henry completed all his training right here at Texas Skies Flight School. Now a certified flight instructor since 2024, he specializes in preparing students for solos and checkride’s with a patient, thorough approach that builds skills, confidence, and intuition. His favorite part of instructing is seeing students grow from nothing into competent pilots. When not in the cockpit, Henry enjoys baking artisanal bread, singing in his church choir, and spending time with his wife and kids.
